![]() ![]() Pre-war German military planning emphasized fast, mobile forces and tactics, later known as blitzkrieg, which depend on radio communication for command and coordination. With its adoption (in slightly modified form) by the German Navy in 1926 and the German Army and Air Force soon after, the name Enigma became widely known in military circles. Japanese and Italian models were also in use. Several different Enigma models were produced, but the German military models, having a plugboard, were the most complex. Early models were used commercially from the early 1920s, and adopted by military and government services of several countries, most notably Nazi Germany before and during World War II. The German firm Scherbius & Ritter, co-founded by Scherbius, patented ideas for a cipher machine in 1918 and began marketing the finished product under the brand name Enigma in 1923, initially targeted at commercial markets. The Enigma machine was invented by German engineer Arthur Scherbius at the end of World War I. Many commentators say the flow of Ultra communications intelligence from the decrypting of Enigma, Lorenz, and other ciphers shortened the war substantially and may even have altered its outcome. Poland's sharing of her achievements enabled the western Allies to exploit Enigma-enciphered messages as a major source of intelligence. While Nazi Germany introduced a series of improvements to the Enigma over the years, and these hampered decryption efforts, they did not prevent Poland from cracking the machine as early as December 1932 and reading messages prior to and into the war. The receiving station would have to know and use the exact settings employed by the transmitting station to successfully decrypt a message. The security of the system depends on machine settings that were generally changed daily, based on secret key lists distributed in advance, and on other settings that were changed for each message. ![]() The rotor mechanism changes the electrical connections between the keys and the lights with each keypress. Entering ciphertext transforms it back into readable plaintext. If plain text is entered, the illuminated letters are the ciphertext. In typical use, one person enters text on the Enigma's keyboard and another person writes down which of the 26 lights above the keyboard illuminated at each key press. The Enigma has an electromechanical rotor mechanism that scrambles the 26 letters of the alphabet. The Enigma machine was considered so secure that it was used to encipher the most top-secret messages. It was employed extensively by Nazi Germany during World War II, in all branches of the German military. The Enigma machine is a cipher device developed and used in the early- to mid-20th century to protect commercial, diplomatic, and military communication. ![]() ![]() ![]() Infant was swaddled but able to break arms free from swaddle. ![]() Director stated that they will no longer swaddle once they are able to break free and when they are 3 months of age.ģ40:110-3-296(b)(2)(A)(v)(II) - the infant is not mobile enough to move the fabric over his or her face. How to Create Documentary style Lower Thirds in Adobe After Effects. At the end of the clip you can change it to 0.5. Remove the “CC Scatterize” effect and apply “CC Starbust”. Next, duplicate the text layer and place it under the original text. Go to the end of the timeline and change it to an even smaller number like 1 or 0.5. This effect splits the text in small particles.Ĭhange the “Scatter” value to a low number like 5. Go to “Effect”, “Simulation” and choose “CC Scatterize”. The third title is abstract and works best with a thin font rather than a bold one. Additionally, it can look good to add a shadow effect which can be applied by right-clicking on the text layer, going to “Layer Styles” and then to “Inner Shadow”. ![]() I am changing the color of the text to a dark blue so it’s only a little bit noticeable. Make sure it’s placed under the original title layer. I will also change the “Center” of the effect to have more motion on the text.īecause some parts are now completely burned out and not visible at all, I am duplicating the text layer and removing the “CC Burn Film” effect. This tutorial covers the creation of a space-like si-fi title sequence from scratch. At the beginning I am going to change the “Burn” amount to 55 and at the end to 35. By changing the “Burn” value, parts of the text disappear. Go to “Effect”, “Stylize” and select “CC Burn Film”. The second title is more advanced and can be useful to create a mysterious mood. If the text is moving in from only one side, make sure to go to the “Paragraph” tab and click on “Center text”. If I hit playback now, I can already see the spacing effect working. In the beginning of the timeline I set the “Tracking Amount” to 65 and at the end to 25. Make sure to hit the “stop watch” icon to activate the keyframe function. Now all I need to do is change the number in “Tracking Amount”. Click on the “arrow” icon of the text layer to unfold all settings. It animates the spacing between the characters and words.įirst select the “text tool” and type your title in the composition. The first one is minimalistic but a classic one. He’s out there, he wants to catch this fish and has no interest in anything else. ![]() A bit like Clint Eastwood on the prairie. It rang the bells of Captain Ahab and all of that, so, what I wanted to do was create a fishing captain who was an archetypal, American male hero, which is dislocated, out of place, closed down with secrets, adrift on the void. I talked to people about him and they said ‘there’s a fish he wants to get’. I went out a couple of times with him and it was always the same. He took the rod – it didn’t matter.Įxactly. ![]() He brought you a beer until a fish bites, and then he was obsessed – you didn’t exist. The captain of the boat took tourists out and he was great, and he was fine. The story came as a result of being on a fishing boat a few years ago in St. What I wanted to do was to create a sort of heightened, conventional film and then disrupt it at the most inconvenient moment and break most of the rules. With this, if I had handed it over, it would have never been executed in the way it is, which is how I wanted it to happen. If I had handed that over I’m sure there would be a lot of pressure to see other people. People think you cannot break them but if I’m going to direct a film, I tend to pick a project that comes to my mind that I know if I handed it over to the system it would get changed. I write a lot of conventional films for studios – credited and uncredited – so I’, completely familiar with the three-act structure and the character arc and all of those rules. It’s quite an extraordinary film, so where did the idea come from? Talking to THN’s Freda Cooper, he reflects on working with other directors and what he’s learned from them, why he believes McConaughey is today’s Robert Mitchum and why he likes to mix things up just a little bit. That’s only half the story, with the latter stages of the narrative including a twist that would make even M Night Shyamalan raise an eyebrow. And she’s prepared to pay a high price for her freedom. Film noir gets pride of place, especially in the form of Anne Hathaway’s bleached blonde femme fatale, persuading fishing boat owner Matthew McConaughey to help her kill her husband. Locke was one, his latest, Serenity, is another.Ī film that’s already divided the critics, its plethora of movie references make it a must for movie geeks. But occasionally a story will exert such a hold that he’ll direct it as well. Most recently penning TV’s Peaky Blinders, as well as Taboo, he’s also been on screenwriter duties for films including Allied and The Girl In The Spider’s Web. Kyle Rayner was one of Earth's most powerful Green Lanterns, having also been the White Lantern and the host of Parallax and Ion. When Parallax beat the ever living crap out of the entire DCU, then Kyle is left to fight him alone on Oa, Kyle might not be able to beat him in a fight, but he destroyed a planet (which he didn't expect to survive the explosion of) to stop Hal's plan. Rayner also notably served as the supremely powerful White Lantern, displaying a unique mastery of all 7 elements of the emotional spectrum. ![]() ![]() To me, Kyle's most defining characteristic was his complete unwillingness to give up. The truth is, there's enough Green Lanterns who are fighting the good fight, but there's not enough heroes who are solely committed to healing the DC Universe.Thought i'd bump this because i am sick of people PM'ing me or leaving comments on my page asking why i'm such a big fan of Kyle's when Hal, John or Guy are so much cooler. Having Kyle as a White Lantern, however, frees up some space in the Corps, while giving Kyle a chance to find peace as his reward for his hard work. As a White Lantern, Kyle had his own identity that was a natural evolution for the character and made room for new legacies to take over his spot in the Green Lantern Corps.ĭowngrading him back to his old powerset doesn't do him or his fellow Corpsmen any favors. Answer (1 of 2): As you know Kyle was a Green Lantern, then he was sent a ring of each color. But the number of officers from Earth has ballooned almost to double-digits and its getting harder for each one to stand out. By losing his upgrade, Kyle may have lost the greatest thing to separate him from the increasingly large ranks of the Green Lantern Corps. The addition of Corps members like Simon Baz, Jo Mullein and Jessica Cruz has added some much needed diversity to the Earth-based Lanterns. But in the last few years, the number of Earth-based Lanterns has only gotten bigger. Since his days wielding the White Light of Creation, Kyle's gone back to being just another member of the Corps. While possible futures are always fluid in nature, Kyle's time as the White Lantern was extremely brief, lasting only a few years in real-time. ![]() ![]() ![]() Great for guitarists who are into digital recording.USB Connectivity and free software (Fender FUSE).All this makes the Mustang an extremely versatile amp with a wide range of tones and effects available both online and via your computer. ![]() ![]() It may also have to do with the interaction among three different immune-system cells known as cytokines. Otosclerosis also tends to run in families. Why this happens is still unclear, but scientists think it could be related to a previous measles infection, stress fractures to the bony tissue surrounding the inner ear, or immune disorders. When this bone is unable to vibrate, sound is unable to travel through the ear and hearing becomes impaired (see illustration). Otosclerosis is most often caused when one of the bones in the middle ear, the stapes, becomes stuck in place. ![]() Those nearer the middle detect lower-pitched sounds, such as a large dog barking. Hair cells near the base of the cochlea detect higher-pitched sounds, such as a cell phone ringing. Certain chemicals then rush in, creating an electrical signal that is carried by the auditory nerve to the brain. The bristly structures of the hair cells then bump up against an overlying membrane, which causes the bristles to tilt to one side and open pore-like channels. Hair cells that sit on top of the membrane “ride” this wave and move up and down with it. Incoming sound vibrations cause the fluid inside the cochlea to ripple, and a traveling wave forms along the basilar membrane. The upper and lower parts of the cochlea are separated by an elastic, “basilar” membrane that serves as the base, or ground floor, upon which key hearing structures sit. The middle-ear bones amplify the sound vibrations and send them to the cochlea, a fluid-filled structure shaped like a snail, in the inner ear. The arrow shaped structures at the top of the photo. Under great magnification, hair cells can be seen as The incoming sound waves make the eardrum vibrate, and the vibrations travel to three tiny bones in the middle ear called the malleus, incus, and stapes-the Latin names for hammer, anvil, and stirrup. The auditory nerve then carries these signals to the brain.įirst, sound waves enter the outer ear and travel through a narrow passageway called the ear canal, which leads to the eardrum. Healthy hearing relies on a series of events that change sound waves in the air into electrochemical signals within the ear. White, middle-aged women are most at risk. Many cases of otosclerosis are thought to be inherited. Otosclerosis affects more than three million Americans. In otosclerosis, abnormal remodeling disrupts the ability of sound to travel from the middle ear to the inner ear. Bone remodeling is a lifelong process in which bone tissue renews itself by replacing old tissue with new. Otosclerosis is a term derived from oto, meaning “of the ear,” and sclerosis, meaning “abnormal hardening of body tissue.” The condition is caused by abnormal bone remodeling in the middle ear.
